The world's largest moth, the snakehead moth, has successfully emerged from its molt at Green World!

 

The legendary and rare snakehead moth (also known as the emperor moth) is considered the king of moths and the largest moth in the world. Its wingspan can reach 25-30 centimeters. The monster "Mothra" from the Godzilla movies is based on the emperor moth.

 

The Atlas moth gets its name from the resemblance of the tips of its forewings to the head of a snake. Its English name, "Atlas moth," is the same as the Greek mythological figure Atlas. The patterns on its wings resemble a treasure map, making it a truly magical and rare species.

 

The life cycle of an adult moth is about 7 to 14 days. After emerging from the molt, the adult moth closes its mouthparts, stops eating and drinking, and seeks out a mate to mate and reproduce.
